Projects

The following small projects are not directly connected to my research, but were fun to create and also taught me some cool new stuff like animated graphs, custom maps, and nifty statistical methods. Some of these projects sprouted from live coding sessions I hosted in my ‘Statistical Programming / Data Analysis in R’ course at ELTE. Another few came from professional collaborations like replication projects.

Multi100 reanalysis of 'Childlessness and Psychological Well-Being in Context: A Multilevel Study on 24 European Countries'

Multi100 reanalysis of ‘Childlessness and Psychological Well-Being in Context: A Multilevel Study on 24 European Countries’

As part of the Multi100 project, I reanalyzed the data from Huijts et al. (2013), and investigated two specific hypotheses. 1) if childlessness is associated with lower well-being, and 2) if the association is moderated by cultural acceptance of childlessness.

Many Analysts Religion Project (MARP) - Blind hypothesis testing

Many Analysts Religion Project (MARP) - Blind hypothesis testing

As part of the Many Analysts Religion Project, I used blind analysis to investigate if religiosity is associated with higher well-being.

Passing the Bechdel test in movies

Passing the Bechdel test in movies

I used the Bechdel test dataset from the TidyTuesday project to predict if a movie passed the test or not, based on the predicted gender of the writers.

Psytrance genre classifier

Psytrance genre classifier

Psytrance music has several subgenres and some of them are difficult to tell apart. I wanted to build a classifier to predict genres based on music features.

Analysis on Game of Thrones marriage survival

Analysis on Game of Thrones marriage survival

I created a custom animated map to show each Game of Thorones birth and death event, and performed a Cox-regression for married and unmarried characters.

Text mining Donald Trump's first UN speech

Text mining Donald Trump’s first UN speech

I used text mining and sentiment analysis on Trump’s first UN speech.
